Police are investigating an incident where a vehicle was used as a battering ram during a Beer Store smash and grab Friday.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers say they responded to a call about a vehicle theft on the south side of the city around 5:30 a.m.

Sgt. Ron Maki said at about 6:40 a.m., the same vehicle was driven through the front of the Beer Store on Gore Street.

Police haven’t released any information or a description about a possible suspect.

"There is video surveillance at the Beer Store," Sgt. Maki said. "However we are still looking at that and I don’t know if we have any suspects at this time."

A suspect drove a vehicle into the Beer Store on Cumberland Street on Dec. 29. Two LCBO locations have also been the victims of a motor vehicle-based smash and grab in Thunder Bay in the last year-and-a-half.

Police did not reveal what was stolen following the Friday smash and grab.
