SEINE RIVER FIRST NATION—Ontario Provincial Police and the Treaty Three Police Service are looking into the circumstances surrounding a man's death.
Rudy Whitecrow, 42, from the Seine River First Nation in the District of Rainy River, was pronounced dead Monday at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.
According to the OPP, Whitecrow succumbed to injuries suffered in an assault that occurred in his home community a few days earlier.
Police were initially investigating the case as an aggravated assault.
A post mortem is scheduled to take place at the Office of the Chief Coroner in Toronto on Thursday, February 8.
