THUNDER BAY — Thunder Bay police are investigating an incident involving a “suspicious vehicle” after a driver approached a youth and repeatedly offered a ride to a liquor store.

The incident was reported to police around 3 p.m. on Sunday, the Thunder Bay Police Service stated.

The incident was flagged by a local social media user around the same time in a post that has since been shared over 500 times, and generated accusations of similar incidents involving the same vehicle.

According to police, a youth was in the 600 block of Arthur Street West when they were approached by the driver, who asked them if they wanted to go to the LCBO.

After being declined, the motorist, described as an older white male, allegedly asked one more time before driving away.

Police did not locate the vehicle in an initial search, but now believe they have identified the driver, with officers expected to make contact with the individual on Tuesday.

A police spokesperson couldn’t yet say if police were considering laying charges over the incident, saying for now it remains a “suspicious vehicle” case.
