Police investigate Lakehead University vandalism

City police are investigating reports of mischief after Lakehead University discovered a teepee on its property had been damaged.

City police are investigating reports of mischief after Lakehead University discovered a teepee on its property had been damaged.

Thunder Bay Police Service officials say it appears someone used a sharp object to cut a number of vertical slits on the backside of the teepee’s covering.

Police nor university officials know when the damage was caused.

The grounds where the teepee was located were designated as a ceremonial lodge site by the university.

The area also features a sacred fire pit, a sweat lodge and is used by students and members of the community for ceremonies.
