Police investigate multiple assaults

Police say a 28-year-old-man left a southward bank when two men approached him and demanded cash and his cell phone. Police say the two men assaulted him and kicked him while on the ground before bystanders intervened.

Police charged a 39-year-old-man and a 41-year-old-man in connection to the robbery.

Several hours later in a separate incident, a 27-year-old-man was assaulted in a north Cumberland Street motel around 6:30 a.m.

Police charged a 43-year-old-man, a 27-year-old-man and a 24-year-old woman with assault causing bodily harm and unlawful confinement.

All three are expected to appear in court on Sunday.
