Police investigate weekend vehicle fires

Thunder Bay Police are investigating two separate vehicle fires over the weekend as possible arsons.

THUNDER BAY - Two vehicle fires over the Easter weekend are being investigated as possible arsons by Thunder Bay Police.

Both incidents occurred early Sunday morning on the city’s south side. At approximately 3:45 a.m. police were called to the 300 block of Catherine Street at the request of Thunder Bay Fire Rescue. Fire crews extinguished a vehicle that was found on fire under a tarp enclosure behind a residence that was damaged in the fire.

A second incident occurred just after 7:30 a.m. when an officer on patrol noticed black smoke in the area of Arthur Street and Waterloo Street. Two vehicles on the 200 block of Waterloo Street were found on fire and Thunder Bay Fire Rescue were called to assist.
