GRASSY NARROWS FIRST NATION -- A 35-year-old Grassy Narrows First Nation man is in custody and facing aggravated assault charges while police investigate the death of 30-year-old Kenneth Scott.

Ontario Provincial Police say Treaty 3 Police Service officers responded to a call at 12:55 a.m. on Tuesday to assist a man in distress after being seriously assaulted in the Northern Ontario community. The victim was found unresponsive and life-saving measures taken by police were unsuccessful.

Scott was pronounced dead at the scene and a post-mortem is scheduled to take place later this week in Toronto.

Police arrested and charged Leon John Fobister.

The investigation is ongoing with officers from both T3PS and OPP working together on the case. Police would like anyone with information to phone OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

The suspect was expected to appear in court on Wednesday.
