THUNDER BAY - A 25-year-old Thunder Bay man has been arrested for possessing and distributing child pornography.
Investigators with the service’s Cyber Crimes Unit received reports of child pornography being uploaded to social media and messaging services in March 2019.
Police were able to confirm that illicit images had been uploaded in February 2019 via a social media messaging app and on another social media platform days later.
As a result of an investigation, police learned the identity of the person who owned both accounts. The owner of the accounts was also revealed to be in possession of the uploaded illicit material.
On Friday, police executed a search warrant on a north side residence, which led to the seizure of child pornography.
Skyler Jay King of Thunder Bay has been charged with possession of child pornography, and two counts of importing and distributing child porn
King appeared in court Saturday morning and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
