Thunder Bay Police Service media release follows:
The Criminal Investigation Branch of the Thunder Bay Police Service is investigating a sexual assault which was reported to have occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday November 1, 2015 near Lakehead University.
An adult female student of Lakehead University had left her campus residence sometime after 2:00 a.m. on November 1, 2015.
She came upon a small group of males and females who were drinking off of the bike path which connects Riverside Drive and the University. After a brief social interaction, it is believed that she was sexually assaulted by a male who was part of this group.
The victim reported the incident to police later that day.
Police are working with the victim to establish further details of persons who may have been present at the gathering.
They are also attempting to establish an exact location of the assault.Investigators are seeking any information regarding persons who may have been part of the group of individuals who were drinking in vicinity of this recreation trail in the early morning hours of Sunday November 1, 2015.
