Police are now looking for someone they describe as a person of interest in connection to three fires, all suspected arson cases, which happened on Regina Avenue during the weekend.
Thunder Bay Police Service officers responded to three fires that were started in the neighbourhood on Sunday.
The first fire was reported around 4 a.m. when a garage was set aflame, followed by another fire an hour later.
At around 10:30 a.m. police responded to another fire.
All fires were deemed intentional and caused major damage. No one was hurt as a result of the fires.
Police spokesman Chris Adams said it appears that the fires may be connected.
“The three appear to be connected and that’s based on timelines and the fact similar buildings and structures were hit as well as the locations,” Adams said.
“It certainly is a serious situation. Any time there’s a structural fire where someone is causing one people could be in danger. Obviously, in this case property was the primary concern.”
Police say they are looking to speak to a Caucasian man in his 20s about the incidents. Police say the man was reportedly seen in the area at the time of the fires.
Police described the man as having light brown hair, thin wearing a blue and black checkered bush jacket.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 684-1200 or Crime Stoppers at 623-8477 (623-TIPS).
The investigation is ongoing.
