Police looking for suspect in recent armed robbery

The Thunder Bay Police Service is requesting public assistance in an effort to identify a suspect involved in a recent armed robbery.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Uniform Patrol Branch were originally dispatched to the Husky Lakeside Food Store at 514 Cumberland Street North just before 10:30 p.m. on Monday, April 27 following reports of an armed robbery that had just occurred.

Police learned a male entered the store armed with a knife, approached a store clerk and made demands for money. The suspect fled the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect uttered threats to the clerk during the robbery.

The suspect is described as an Indigenous male standing about six-feet tall with a medium build. He wore dark clothing and a dark face covering during the robbery.

Members of the service’s Break and Enter And Robbery Unit are investigating this incident. As a result of their ongoing efforts, video surveillance footage was obtained showing the suspect at the time of the robbery.

Images from that video are now being shared with the media and public in an effort to identify the accused.
