THUNDER BAY — Some residents of a southside Thunder Bay neighbourhood may be wondering why they found their mailboxes empty on Monday.

It may be because a thief got a hold of that letter or small package first.

Thunder Bay Police are investigating reports that a group of individuals appeared to be stealing from mailboxes in the Simpson Street and McKenzie Street neighbourhood Monday morning.

Police received multiple tips that the culprits were seen approaching residences and removing mail while delivering flyers as a cover.

One suspect was arrested, and remains in custody.

Any residents of that area with home security video or dash cam footage that may be relevant to the investigation are asked to call police at 807-684-1200, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477, or online at www.p3tips.com.
