Officials with the city police say officers have laid 26 charges this week during a traffic blitz that targeted distracted drivers.
Sixteen people were caught driving while using handheld electronic devices. Those charges were accompanied by a $155 fine.
Officials with the Thunder Bay Police Service say there were also two separate incidents where people had pets on their lap while driving.
Those drivers were charged with driving while crowded, because police say the animals obstructed their ability to properly operate their vehicles.
That charge carries a fine of $110 and three demerit points.
