Police officer injured in collision

Officer hospitalized with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening after Sunday morning collision

THUNDER BAY - A Thunder Bay police officer has been hospitalized after sustaining injuries in a motor vehicle collision. Two vehicles, including one police cruiser, were involved in the incident, which took place late Sunday morning in the city's south end.

A police spokesperson said one officer was injured and being treated in hospital with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. The number of occupants in the other vehicle, and their condition, is unknown at this time.

The collision occured around 11:45 a.m. Sunday morning near the intersection of McKenzie and Robertson streets. 

A number of police vehicles, including a forensics van, were in the area investigating the incident Sunday afternoon. A police cruiser that was removed from the scene had sustained heavy damage to its rear left side, while a minivan was removed with apparent damage to its front bumper.
