THUNDER BAY -- City police are asking the public to avoid a busy roadway as they investigate an evening collision involving a pedestrian.

Thunder Bay police are urging drivers to stay away from Fort William Road in the area of the Harbour Expressway throughout Monday night. The road is closed between Harbour Expressway and 11th Avenue.

A police official said the road will likely be closed for an extended period of time.

The severity of the incident is not known.

According to a police release issued early Tuesday morning, the road has reopened.

This investigation is ongoing.
