UPDATE: Police presence on city's south side

City police are asking the public to avoid the area at this time.

THUNDER BAY - Police remain on the scene at an apartment complex on the city's south side following reports of a disturbance. 

According to a media release issued by the Thunder Bay Police Service, members of the Uniform Patrol Branch were called to the area following reports of a disturbance at approximately 11:40 a.m. Monday morning in the Cumming Street area.

Police have Cumming Street blocked off at the corner of May Street and McKenzie Street and are asking the public to avoid the area. 

Numerous police remain on the scene, including officers in tactical gear. 

This is a developing story and will be updated when more information becomes available.

The Thunder Bay Police Service currently has a presence in the 200 block of Cumming Street, near May Street.

Members of the Uniform Patrol Branch were originally dispatched to a reported disturbance in the area just before 11:40 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 4.

The public is asked to try and avoid the area at this time.

No further details are available at this time. Media will receive further updates as more information becomes available.
