THUNDER BAY - City police are continuing to receive reports of break-ins to homes and vehicles within city limits and semi-rural areas during early morning hours.
A media release issued Friday afternoon by the Thunder Bay Police Service said an insecure or unlocked door has been a common variable in many of the cases.
A common point of entry has been through unlocked doors, whether they be entry, patio or exterior doors. Once inside the suspects have been taking electronics, jewelry and firearms.
Residents are advised to ensure all doors are locked at night. If a resident is inside during an invasion it is recommended to get to a safe place and call 911.
There have also been a number of cases of people walking down streets and attempting to open car doors until finding one that is unlocked and taking anything of value inside.
