City police are releasing a security video they hope will help them find the suspect involved in a recent convenience store robbery.

Officials with the Thunder Bay Police Service on Tuesday released the security video in connection with the robbery of the Waterloo Street Mac’s convenience store Friday.

Officials say a male suspect is described as being an Aboriginal man standing about six-feet tall.

Police say the store clerk was threatened by the suspect, who was wielding a knife at the time of the incident.

The suspect fled with merchandise from the store.

Police spokeswoman Julie Tilbury is now asking anyone who believes they recognize the suspect to contact the Thunder Bay Police Service.

Story continues after video ...

“We’re asking the public if anyone does identify the male in the videos or in the images we are releasing that they give us a call at either Thunder Bay Police or Crime Stoppers,” she said during a media conference at the Balmoral Street police station Monday morning.

“Hopefully we’ll be able to identify this male and hold him accountable to his actions.”

Mac’s convenience stores were heavily targeted for robberies in 2011, and this January robbery marks the first time a Mac’s store has been targeted for robbery in 2012.
