Police release video showing person of interest in Chiodo murder investigation

The body of 40-year-old Lee Chiodo was found on Mission Island on Sunday.

THUNDER BAY -- Investigators have released surveillance footage depicting someone they describe as a person of interest in their investigation of the murder of Lee Chiodo.

Thunder Bay police late Thursday afternoon released video of the individual, who is described as a six-foot-four black man with an athletic build. The man in the video is believed to be in his 40s and was wearing a grey track suit.

The body of the 40-year-old Chiodo was found in the snow on Mission Island in the area of 108th Avenue on Sunday. Police were alerted by a passerby who saw what they believed to be a body in the snow.

Police have not revealed Chiodo's cause of death, or said whether any weapons were involved. Investigators have not answered whether they believe Chiodo was murdered where his body was found, or if he was killed at another location and then brought to Mission Island.

A special telephone tip line (807-684-1545) has been created and anyone with information is urged to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
