According to a release, Thunder Bay Police Service officers were dispatched Saturday afternoon to assist with locating a woman who called 911 to advise she had become disoriented while snowshoeing in a wooded area behind Parkdale subdivision.
Police say TBPS communication operators contacted the provider of her cellular phone to request assistance to determine the location of her phone.
Officers went to an area close to where she was believed to be and attempted to use a siren wail to give the woman a direction to follow.
Many officers entered the area in an attempt to locate her and her dog.
A short time later, officers entered the area using two snow machines and located the woman at 5:50 p.m.
The 65-year-old was checked by paramedics before returning to her residence.
