Police respond to weapons call

Thunder Bay Police were called to a north side weapons call late Wednesday night.

THUNDER BAY -- City police arrested a man following a Wednesday evening weapon’s call.

Thunder Bay Police Service officials said police were dispatched to the 400 block of Queen Street at around 9:20 p.m. after receiving a 911 call regarding a possible gunshot being heard from an upstairs apartment.

According to a release, officers arrived within minutes and contained the area and residents from the main floor apartment were evacuated.

The emergency task unit arrived on scene and used a bullhorn to communicate with the occupant of the apartment.

A 24-year-old man exited the building around 12:30 a.m. and was taken into custody without incident.

A firearm located in the residence was seized.

He is scheduled to appear in court Thursday morning.

This is an ongoing investigation.
