THUNDER BAY — Thunder Bay Police officers were dispatched to a residence on Empire Avenue on Sunday evening after reports came in that a man may have been seen with a firearm.

Responding officers contained a residence in the 400 block, and were told that a witness had seen someone with a knife and what appeared to be a handgun.

An adult male who exited the residence just after 6:30 p.m. was in possession of several knives, but no gun.

However, police said they subsequently located a pellet gun inside the home.

The pellet gun and five knives were turned over to police, and the man was released unconditionally after receiving a caution.
