Police save man from Purple Down overdose

A TBPS Uniform Patrol officer’s swift response in administering Naloxone to an unconscious male resulted in a life saved from an apparent overdose from a dangerous street drug called Purple Down.

The officer was responding to a call regarding a person down near Connolly and McTavish Streets yesterday at 2:10 p.m. The officer observed used needles near the man. The officer administered Naloxone and the male began to recover. The male was transported to hospital by EMS.

Fentanyl-based street drugs continue to pose a serious danger to people who are struggling with addictions. These drugs continue to be sold on our streets by criminals who have no regard for the danger they represent.

If you are an addict and have fears or anxiety about coming forward to seek help, we strongly encourage you to speak with a family member or friend who may be able to come forward on your behalf. You do not have to be alone in dealing with your addiction.
