Police say 19-year-old dead in city's latest homicide

Police were called to a residence in the 100 block of Shipley Street just before 3 a.m. on Wednesday.

THUNDER BAY – City police have confirmed the death of a 19-year-old Thunder Bay man, the victim of the city’s fifth homicide of 2022.

Police say they were called to a residence in the 100 block of Shipley Street at approximately 2:55 a.m. on Wednesday.

The victim, who police have not named, was rushed to Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre by private citizens, where he was pronounced dead.

A heavy police presence remains in the area and the investigation has been taken over by the TBPS major crimes unit, with the assistance of the forensics unit. Police say the incident is tied to another investigation taking place at a residence in the 200 block of Brock Street East.
