Police say man’s death in Quetico Park not suspicious

A 71-year-old Minnesota man died on Saganaga Lake in Quetico Provincial Park.

RAINY RIVER, Ont. - The death of man in Quetico Provincial Park is not being investigated as suspicious say police.

According to a media release issued by the Ontario Provincial Police Thursday morning, officers from the Rainy River District detachment received reports of a man in distress and receiving CPR shortly after 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 15.

Officers attended the scene on Saganaga Lake near the Cache Bay Ranger Station. The man, identified as 71-year-old Craig Sicard of Minnetonka, Minn., was pronounced dead at the scene.

The OPP said the death is not being investigated as suspicious.

Due to the proximity to the United States border, first responders from the Grand Marais Sheriff’s department also attended the scene.
