Social media credited with quick recovery of stolen Jeep

Crime victim credits Facebook response for helping quickly recover vehicle stolen from deli parking lot.

THUNDER BAY -- A Thunder Bay woman is crediting social media shares for the quick recovery of her partner's stolen jeep. 
 
In a Facebook post on Monday, a local woman thanked the public for sharing the story widely in the city, which led police to make an arrest within hours. 
 
"The power of social media is amazing," she said. 
 
An earlier post said the vehicle had been stolen from the parking lot of a north-side deli shop. 
 
Police on Tuesday said they arrested and charged a 25-year-old with driving while impaired by drugs and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
 
Police said they located the stolen vehicle just after 6 p.m. in the 500 block of Walkover Street, following reports from the public that the man had been seen driving a stolen vehicle. 
 
The accused, 25-year-old Adam Karras Brady, was transported to Thunder Bay Police headquarters on Balmoral Street, where a drug recognition expert evaluated him. 

Brady appeared in bail court on Tuesday and was released to face a future court date.

Police arrested and charged a suspected impaired driver who was in possession of a stolen Jeep Monday.
 
Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the uniform patrol branch were dispatched to the 500 block of Walkover Street just after 6 p.m. on Monday, July 27 following reports a male was observed driving a suspected stolen vehicle.
 
When police arrived they located the stolen vehicle and its driver. The driver was arrested for possession of property obtained by crime.
 
While speaking with the accused, officers noticed signs of impairment. The accused was transported to the TBPS headquarters at 1200 Balmoral Street for further evaluation by a Drug Recognition Expert.
 
The DRE’s examination confirmed the driver was impaired by drugs.
 
Adam Karras BRADY, 25, of Thunder Bay, is charged with Driving While Impaired by Drugs and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000.
 
He appeared in bail court on Tuesday, July 28 and was released with a future appearance date.
