Police searching for suspects in attempted robbery

City police are searching for two male suspects in connection with an attempted robbery at a Safeway.

THUNDER BAY – City police are looking for two suspects in connection with an attempted robbery at a northside grocery store.

According to a release issued Wednesday, police say two men caused a commotion Tuesday around 4:45 p.m. at the Court Street Safeway.

One man grabbed the 47-year-old female cashier and attempted to take money out of the cash drawer, but the cashier was able to get control of the till.

As the suspects were attempting to flee the store, a 54-year-old female employee tried to block their exit, but she was pushed and the suspects fled on foot northbound on Court Street.

The first suspect is described as a tall Indigenous man.

The second suspect is described as a Caucasian man standing five-feet tall with a slim build. He was wearing black glasses, black jacket and a black cap.
