Police seek help surrounding possible shooting incident

Police say man showed up at Thunder Bay Regional with serious injuries likely involving a firearm.

The Thunder Bay Police Service is requesting public assistance as they continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding a serious assault involving a firearm. 

Officers with the Uniform Patrol Branch were originally dispatched after 3 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26 to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre following reports of an injured male there. Police learned the male’s injuries were likely the result of an assault involving a firearm. 

The incident became a major case and now involves members of the TBPS’s Major Crimes Unit. 

As a result of their ongoing investigation, police learned the original incident likely occurred in the area of North James and Limbrick Streets at approximately 2 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26. 

Investigators believe this was a targeted incident. The victim’s injuries are believed to be serious but non-life threatening.
