Update: Police seek man who offered girl a ride

Police are looking for a man who approached a 10-year-old girl on her way to school.

THUNDER BAY – Police are searching for a man who offered a 10-year-old girl a ride.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers say the girl was walking to school in the area of Minstrel Bay and Scarlet Avenue Wednesday morning around 8:20 a.m. when a man in a truck stopped and offered her a ride.

When the girl walked away from the vehicle the man exited his truck and yelled at her. He got back in the vehicle and abruptly drove away.

The suspect is described as a tall, heavy set, 45-year-old man with a full beard. He was wearing a baseball cap on backward with black jeans and a black jacket.

He was driving a full-size grey or silver pick-up truck.

Anyone who may have seen this vehicle in the area or knows who this suspect may be is asked to contact the police at 684-1200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Woodcrest Public School officials are urging parents to pick up kids who normally walk home from school Wednesday afternoon.
