Police seek witnesses in trailer hitch assault

The investigation continues into a disturbing incident in the city's south side.

The Criminal Investigations Branch of the Thunder Bay Police Service is seeking the public's assistance regarding an assault with a weapon involving a 34 year old female victim.

The victim stated that she and her sister were walking on Cameron Street near McKenzie Avenue on Saturday night when the passenger in a car that was traveling on Cameron Street threw a trailer hitch at her, striking her in the stomach.

The victim attended the hospital later on Sunday evening for medical treatment. She is still in hospital receiving treatment.

The trailer hitch has been seized as evidence by police.

The vehicle involved in this assault is described as a newer model four door grey car with dark tinted windows. The vehicle may frequent the McKenzie, Simpson, May Street areas.

The two occupants are described as being Caucasian males approximately 25 years of age. The passenger is reported to have been wearing a plaid shirt, blue baseball cap and have blonde hair and possibly some facial scruff. The driver may have been wearing a red sweater and black toque.
