Police arrested a Brampton man who allegedly walked down a city street with a duffle bag containing nearly $300,000 worth of cocaine.

Police arrested a Brampton man who allegedly walked down a city street with a duffle bag containing nearly $300,000 worth of cocaine.

Officials with the Thunder Bay Police Service say the arrest and drug seizure stems from an investigation that began in April focusing on two men who were believed to be trafficking cocaine in this city.

Police say officers received information that a man was in possession of a package. The man was walking down Mountdale Avenue when his identity was confirmed by police.

He was arrested without incident.

The man was searched and police found a package containing nearly 3,000 grams of cocaine inside a duffle bag the man was carrying.

Police say the estimated street value of the cocaine seized is about $292.000.

An investigation reveals that the suspect had flown to Thunder Bay from Toronto earlier that day. He was staying at a local hotel.

Kevin Jones, 37, of Brampton Ontario, faces a charges of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

The suspect remains in custody and has a court appearance scheduled for Aug. 22.

The investigation continues.
