THUNDER BAY – City police have seized three kilograms of cocaine worth nearly $300,000 on the street.

In a release issued on Tuesday, police say they recovered the drugs during a search of an apartment unit in the zero-to-100 block of Cumberland Street, after obtaining a warrant on the residence just after 5 a.m. last Wednesday.

A 22-year-old Toronto man, who was not home when the search began, returned to the apartment while police were still on scene and was arrested.

He faces charges for possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a schedule 1 substance and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

He’s been remanded into custody and expected to next appear in court on Friday.
