Police seize drugs worth $836,000, including 7 kilograms of cocaine

Investigation began in late 2024 and concluded with five arrests on May 8.

THUNDER BAY -- Police have seized more than seven kilograms of cocaine and one kilogram of methamphetamine, along with a loaded firearm after a drug trafficking investigation in Thunder Bay. 

The Ontario Provincial Police-led provincial guns and gangs enforcement team began the investigation in late 2024 and executed warrants on two vehicles and three residences on May 8, 2025. 

Thunder Bay Police and Nishnawbe Aski Nation Police Service were also involved in the bust, which yielded 7.2 kilograms of suspected cocaine, one kilogram of suspected methamphetamine, 2.8 grams of suspected fentanyl, 295 oxycodone tablets, four pounds of dried, illegal cannabis, 280 cannabis vape pens, 25 vials of hash oil, a loaded firearm, $126,260 in Canadian currency and eight cell phones. 

Police, in a release issued on Thursday, say the street value of the drugs is estimated at $836,000. 

Arrested were a 34-year-old male from Thunder Bay, a 30-year-old female from Thunder Bay, a 26-year-old male from Ajax, Ont., a 35-year-old male from Thunder Bay and a 26-year-old woman from Thunder Bay.

The first three remain in custody, while the latter two have been released and are expected back in court next month.
