THUNDER BAY — A 29-year-old man from Scarborough is facing drug trafficking charges after an investigation by the Thunder Bay Police Service's intelligence unit led to the seizure of more than $200,000 in illegal drugs.
The suspect was arrested on Wednesday, Aug. 13, with assistance from Nishnawbe Aski Police Service's intelligence unit.
Police confiscated nearly 2.3 kilograms of suspected cocaine, about 700 grams of methamphetamine, more than 500 hydromorphone tablets, and $19,000 in cash.
The estimated street value of the seized drugs was more than $200,000, said police in a news release.
The man is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, methamphetamine, and opioids, as well as possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
He appeared in court on Thursday and has been remanded into custody pending a future court date.
