Police seize suspected cocaine, fentanyl after searching residences

The drugs had an estimated street value of more than $135,000.

THUNDER BAY -- Last night, officers with the Thunder Bay Police Service arrested seven people after executing two warrants for ongoing drug trafficking in the city. 

Members of the Intelligence Unit and Emergency Task Unit searched a residence in the 100 block of Machar Avenue and a residence in the 200 block of Finlayson Street. 

Police seized quantities of suspected cocaine and fentanyl -- with an estimated street value of more than $135,000. Police also seized nearly $100,000 in cash.

Of the seven people arrested, six did not have a Thunder Bay address. 

Three people were charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking x2, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. One of these individuals also faces a charge of possession of fraudulent identity. 

The other four people were each charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

All of the accused appeared in court today and have been remanded into custody with future appearance dates. 

The investigation remains ongoing.
