THUNDER BAY – Police have identified a pedestrian involved in a Wednesday evening collision.

On Thursday Thunder Bay Police Service officials requested media take and share photographs of the pedestrians clothing.

The police hoped the photographs would help lead to the identification of the person, believed to be a jogger, struck by a vehicle at the corner of Bay and Water Streets at about 5:15 p.m. Wednesday.

After what police called an “amazing response” from the public, officers were able to identify the pedestrian and make contact with the family.

The jogger was rushed to hospital following the Wednesday crash, where she remains in serious condition.

“In my recollection I can’t remember the last time we did that,” said Traffic Sgt. Glen Porter about showing media the clothing of the once unidentified woman. “But this is extraordinary circumstances.”

The investigation is ongoing.
