(KENORA, ON) Members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police have charged a male following a vehicle stop in downtown Kenora.
On Thursday April 28, 2016 just before 11:30 pm, the Kenora OPP stopped a vehicle stop on Main Street for Highway Traffic Act violations.
Police spoke with the driver and determined the driver had been consuming alcohol.
After registering a fail on the roadside device, the driver was arrested and transported to the Kenora OPP for further tests.
A search of the subject following his arrest resulted in the location of a controlled substance suspected to be cocaine.
As a result of the investigation, a 40-year-old Kenora man has been charged with Fail or Refuse to Provide a Breath Sample contrary to section 254(5) the Criminal Code of Canada and Possession of a Schedule I Substance-Cocaine contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drug and Substance Act. He was also charged with a number of offences under the Highway Traffic Act
He is to appear in Kenora Court on June 9, 2016 to answer to the charges.
