Police spot stolen vehicle, arrest and charge driver

A 26-year-old is facing charges following possession of property obtained by crime after being caught driving a stolen vehicle.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Uniform Patrol Branch were in the area of Pearl and Court Streets on Wednesday, May 27 at about 12:30 p.m. when they observed a vehicle that had been reported stolen.

The vehicle was being driven westbound on Pearl Street, and police confirmed it had been reported stolen earlier that morning.
Officers conducted a traffic stop and the driver was arrested without further incident.

Jamie Jose DACOSTA, 26, of Thunder Bay is charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000, and Breach of Probation x 3.

He appeared in bail court on Thursday, May 28 and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
