Thunder Bay Police are rolling out a new emergency text-based service for the city’s speech or hearing impaired.

Thunder Bay Police are rolling out a new emergency text-based service for the city’s speech or hearing impaired.

Text with 911 will allow those needing the service to dial 911 and communicate with dispatchers, who will be able to recognize incoming calls from registered phones.

Phones must register with their wireless provider in order to be able to use the service.

Thunder Bay is one of two regions in Ontario where the service is available.
