Police to search for man who went through ice

Police are looking for a man who may have gone through the ice on Lake of the Woods Sunday.

Kenora detachment OPP officers began looking for the man early Sunday evening. Police say two men were travelling in the area of Goose Neck Narrows, about 13 kilometres north of Morrison.

One of the snow machines went through an area of thin ice. The second man was unable to get his friend from the water.

Due to poor conditions and current in the area, police could not conduct an immediate search.

Police say the missing man is Fred Bisel, 68, from Eagle Bend, Minn.

The OPP’s underwater search and rescue team is heading to Kenora and is expected to search the water in that area later this week.
