THUNDER BAY — A man who allegedly left the scene of a collision in Thunder Bay on the holiday long weekend now faces multiple charges resulting from the incident.
An SUV went out of control and smashed into a tree early Monday afternoon in the 100 block of Duke Street on the north side of town.
The vehicle sustained significant damage, but police said the driver was able to exit and walk away.
Information provided by witnesses enabled officers to locate a suspect a short time later.
Thunder Bay Police said he was observed to be exhibiting multiple signs of impairment, and that he provided officers with a false identity.
The 25-year-old has been charged with dangerous driving, impaired driving, failure to stop after an accident, public mischief, obstructing police and failure to comply with a probation order.
He appeared in court Tuesday and was released from custody with a future court date.
