THUNDER BAY — Another day, another scam to be mindful of.

This one targets people through a "survey" asking the receiver how they feel about their local police service.

Currently, Thunder Bay Police Services is not running a survey asking for input.

A release from police stated that any previous surveys asking for the public's input were not conducted via text messaging.

Police warn the public to be wary of these kinds of messages as scammers will attempt to market to people through various interactions, including asking to participate in surveys, notifications of failed mail delivery, payment issues for a subscription service, or a notice from a financial institution.

The service advises that if you are not expecting these types of messages or don't do business with that company, then do not click on the links and delete the messages.

Police urge family members and friends to speak to those who may be vulnerable to being targeted by scams.

More information about various frauds and scams that may be circulating can be found through the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre's website.

Fraud and cyber crimes can be reported online to the Thunder Bay Police Service through this link.
