Organizers for a local fundraiser are hoping there will be a lot of people following the advice of Mackelmore and Ryan Lewis when it comes to bargain hunting.
Inspired by the hit song Thrift Shop, companions at Camp Quality are throwing a huge party at the CLE Heritage building Sept. 13 and they want people to pop some tags. Specifically, they're asking people to dig through local thrift stores to find that perfect outfit.
"It's really fun, it's really easy and it's cheap," organizer Boris Potoyants said Wednesday morning sporting a very fashionable sweater.
"Just be you and have fun with it."
The group is looking to raise $5,000 for Camp Quality. They've been hitting bars and clubs dressed in their thrift store best. Potoyants said they've sold out of tickets every time they head out.
"It's been great," he said.
Camp Quality's Clara Butikofer said that's great news for the organization, which needs to raise $100,000 every year for programming. Seeing volunteers come together to help is always welcome news.
"It's always a relief and it's a benefit for us as well," she said.
It's also nice to see younger volunteers come together. While the camp welcomes any volunteer over the age of 18, younger volunteers can sometimes be more of a benefit to the campers.
"The younger volunteers sometimes relate better to the children," she said.
