THUNDER BAY - Those with an eye for capturing unique images of an aspect that helped build the city of Thunder Bay could have their work immortalized in an original painting by a local artist.
The Port of Thunder Bay launched its Let’s Sea it Your Way photography contest last month and is making a last call for entries from amateur and professional photographers.
Photographers can enter images in four categories, including best saltie, best laker, best ship with the Sleeping Giant, and best superior sunrise or sunset featuring the Port of Thunder Bay.
Submissions will be judged and winning entries will be commissioned into an original painting by local artist Vik Wilen.
“Thunder Bay residents enjoy some of the best lake views in the world, and we often overlook the exciting shipping activity that happens in our world-class port,” said Chris Heikkinen, Port of Thunder Bay Communications Coordinator.
“With travel restrictions and people staying closer to home, we wanted to encourage local residents to see their home community from a new perspective. The Let’s Sea It Your Way photo contest is about taking a closer look at the Port of Thunder Bay and sharing what you see happening in your own front yard with the world.”
Photographers can enter the contest by sharing images on Facebook or Instagram and tag @portofthunderbay with the hashtag, #PortPhotochallenge.
There is no limit on the number of photo entries allowed. The deadline for submissions is Oct. 9 by midnight. For more information visit the Port of Thunder Bay Photo Challenge website.
