The Thunder Bay Port Authority is seeing a strong start to the local shipping season.
Total cargo in April was up 34 per cent over the same month in 2011, mostly due to higher grain volumes.
Keefer Terminal is also seeing the arrival of wind turbine components bound for Western Canada.
So far this year, 55 vessels have visited the port. Last year at this time only 42 had made their way through the local port.
