THUNDER BAY — A portion of Oliver Road is scheduled to be blocked to all through traffic for two days.

The City of Thunder Bay's Engineering & Operations division said the road will be closed on May 28 and May 29 between Burwood Road and Conservation Road.

The shutdown is necessary to permit the connection of city services to the new Hyatt House hotel that's under construction on Oliver near Burwood.

Signs will direct motorists using Oliver Road to a detour route that includes Burwood, Central Avenue and Golf Links Road, but the city said it encourages drivers to avoid the area completely if possible by taking an alternate route.

During the closure, businesses between Burwood and Conservation Roads will remain accessible to local traffic.
