FORT FRANCES, Ont. – Staff at two Fort Frances-area long-term care homes have tested positive for COVID-19, Riverside Health Care reports.

One of those involves a fourth positive case at the Rainycrest Long Term Care Home in Fort Frances, while a single staff member tested positive at the Emo Health Centre, but had no recent contact with residents or staff, Riverside reported.

The Rainycrest employee’s result came through the home’s weekly surveillance testing of staff.

Three residents have tested positive at the home since Jan. 2, when a single positive result triggered the declaration of a COVID-19 outbreak.

Two of those three resident cases are now resolved. The outbreak remains in effect, with access to the home limited to palliative visits.

Meanwhile, a staff member at the Emo Health Centre, which offers 12 long-term care beds, also tested positive.

“The staff member had no direct contact with other staff or residents recently,” Riverside Health Care stated.

All residents at the home will be tested by Jan 30, the organization added.
