Possible COVID-19 outbreak at hospital under investigation

Thunder Bay Regional says precautions are being put in place to deal with the situation.

THUNDER BAY – A possible COVID-19 outbreak has hit Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

Hospital officials on Monday said the potential outbreak is under investigation.

“The health and safety of patients, staff, professional staff and the community has been our utmost priority throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Precautionary measures are being implemented to protect the health and safety of all as we investigate the situation further and determine next steps,” hospital officials said in a release.

A source has told tbnewswatch.com that an ICU staffer has tested positive for the virus.

More information is expected to be unveiled during a Monday afternoon news conference.
