A post mortem was performed Tuesday on the 44-year-old man who died in Thunder Bay Police custody over the weekend.
Officials with the province's Special Investigations Unit say the man was arrested around 4:30 p.m. Saturday for being intoxicated and in violation of a court order.
Then at around 3 a.m. Sunday he was found in some form of medical distress.
When Paramedics arrived, he was pronounced dead.
Five investigators from the SIU are involved in the probe.
