THUNDER BAY - A post mortem examination will be conducted Tuesday on the body of the individual found deceased on the eastern outskirts of Thunder Bay on Sunday.

The exam will be carried out for the coroner's office by the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service in Toronto.

OPP are treating the death as suspicious but have not, as yet, labelled it a homicide.

The body was found on the shoulder of Highway 527 just north of the Highway 11-17 junction.

So far, police have not disclosed the identity of the deceased person, nor have they provided the individual's gender or age.

While the investigation continues, a portion of Highway 527 remains closed to traffic.

OPP are advising motorists to take a detour using Copenhagen Road and Compressor Station Road, which connect Highway 11-17 and Highway 527.
